I know most of the Postgres developers faced an issue like whenever they are selecting table column result that time they may get broken string (…) in PgAdmin.
In this post, I am sharing a solution to select a full-length string of your tables in PostgreSQL.
You are getting the broken string as a result because of the default setting. Characters per column set to 250, so you can select max 250 characters.
If you want to select a full string of your column, go to PgAdmin object explorer -> go to file menu -> go to Options… -> select Query Editor -> change the value of Max. characters per column.
Example, execute below select before any changes:
1 2 3 |
SELECT 'FLJSLDFSLJFLJFSLJFLSJFSLDKFJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ FSFSSEFSFSFFERBCSFSSERCFSFFSBEFFSFSECBERSFSFSFVERFSFFSSBFVSSFSFFFEFFSSFBCSSFSFRFSFSFFTEVBFFFFTRSFSSFFHR FSFSFFTFSFJJJHJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ' |
The Result #1:
1 2 3 |
"FLJSLDFSLJFLJFSLJFLSJFSLDKFJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ FSFSSEFSFSFFERBCSFSSERCFSFFSBEFFSFSECBERSFSFSFVERFSFFSSBFVSSFSFFFEFFSSFBCSSFSFRFSFSFFTEVBFFFFTRSFSSFFHR FSFSFFTFSFJJJHJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ (...)" |
The Result #2: After change the limit of Max. characters per column 250 to 2000, you can get a full length string.
1 2 3 |
"FLJSLDFSLJFLJFSLJFLSJFSLDKFJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ FSFSSEFSFSFFERBCSFSSERCFSFFSBEFFSFSECBERSFSFSFVERFSFFSSBFVSSFSFFFEFFSSFBCSSFSFRFSFSFFTEVBFFFFTRSFSSFFHR FSFSFFTFSFJJJHJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ" |
